William and Kate enjoy colourful welcome in Pakistan

Prince William and and wife Catherine highlighted the UK’s ‘unique bonds’ with Pakistan during a five-day visit to the South Asian nation, the first trip by a British royal family member in more than a decade. Britain’s Prince William and his wife Kate are traveling to Pakistan’s scenic northern mountains and glaciers, drawing attention to the challenges of climate change in the South Asian nation. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge flew to the city of Chitral on Wednesday morning. According to Britain’s Press Association, Prince William made a speech at a cultural event in the capital of Islamabad the previous day, saying he will visit Chitral to see some of the impacts of climate change – including a melting glacier – as well as meet with local communities faced with the impact of a damaged environment.

While visiting the school a 14-year-old student told William she and other students were “big fans” of Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997. “Oh that’s very sweet of you. I was a big fan of my mother too,” he replied.
